BEFORE                                                                 AFTER

Brian and Sherry Crosby moved into their three-bedroom home shortly after their son, Benjamin, was born. With son number-two soon due to arrive, it's time to convert their catch-all office and storage room into a nursery with a whimsical theme that will be fitting for several years. Which designer will the Crosbys choose for the job?

After meeting with all the designers, they choose Shannon McKernan because she was able to incorporate Brian's heirloom dresser and make the room look like it belonged to the rest of the house. With a budget of $4,000, McKernan turns a cluttered home office and storage room into a cohesive, fun-filled nursery that can evolve with baby Max. She pulled the room together by using vintage alphabet fabric for the bedding, hamper and window treatments, along with matching artistic touches throughout the room. Storage issues were resolved by restructuring the old jumbled closet with a built-in organization system while boxes, decorative baskets and a tall bookshelf also keep the clutter from overpowering the small room. Heavy draperies in the old office created a dark feel, but new window treatments allow natural light to brighten up the nursery. Designer Shannon McKernan rose to the challenge and turned a cluttered office into a nursery that is imaginative, practical and will stand the test of time.
